Temi's World is a free preschool cartoon series on YouTube and YouTube Kids. Its star is Temi, a five-year-old Black Jamaican-British girl with big hair and a lot to say. Made for children aged 3 to 6, Temi's World teaches phonics, counting, shapes and big feelings through quick quizzes and mini vlogs. Nathan Wilkes, a children's animation producer, created it with Toni Cato-Matthews, an early years practitioner who voices Temi. Temi's World launched worldwide on YouTube Kids in May 2025 and has since passed 300,000 views. It has been featured by Skwigly, C21Media, Licensing.biz, World Screen's TV Kids and The Voice. It is already being used in the classroom. Who is Temi?
Temi is the main character in every episode of Temi's World: a Black, Jamaican-British five-year-old who runs her own show from her bedroom. She is loud and curious. She also gets things wrong and tries again, and children love her for exactly that.
Is Temi's World a Jamaican or Caribbean show? Temi's World is made in Britain by two creators with Jamaican heritage, and its star is a Jamaican-British girl. The free activity library includes Let's Learn About Plantain!, a sheet about a staple of Jamaican home cooking.
For Caribbean families, in the islands and across the diaspora, Temi's World offers a preschool star who shares their roots. Every child is welcome in Temi's World, wherever their family comes from. Is Temi's World educational? Yes. Nathan and Toni develop the episodes together, drawing on Toni's training and nursery experience as an early years practitioner. Episodes cover phonics, letters, counting, shapes and colours, along with feelings and friendship. Nathan brings years of experience making children's educational content with leading preschool education consultants. The free printables follow the same thinking, starting with SATPIN phonics sheets for children learning their first letter sounds. Can teachers use Temi's World in the classroom? Yes, and it is already happening. One teacher wrote to us to say she loves the show and uses it in her classroom. Teachers are welcome to play Temi's World in class, and the free activity sheets make an easy follow-up to an episode. The show suits nursery, reception, kindergarten and basic school classes.
Is Temi's World safe for young children? Temi's World is made for children and is available on YouTube Kids. Temi is an animated character voiced by Toni, so no real child is ever filmed or pushed to perform for views.
"We wanted to create something just as exciting, but safer and more intentional," says Nathan. Every episode is free, with no sign-up and no subscription. Nathan and Toni see screen time as one part of a child's day. The activity sheets are there to carry the learning away from the screen.
Who makes Temi's World? Temi's World is an independent production by Nathan Wilkes and Toni Cato-Matthews, best friends since their days at the University of Hertfordshire. Nathan Wilkes is a children's animation producer and director with a First Class Honours degree in Computer Animation. He has spent more than six years on children's educational content, including Numberblocks, Alphablocks, Colourblocks and Wonderblocks. Music videos he directed for those shows have been watched hundreds of millions of times. Before that, Nathan worked at Walt Disney Studios on campaigns for The Lion King and Toy Story 4. In 2023 he gave written evidence to a UK parliamentary select committee inquiry into children's content. Temi's World is his own project, separate from his work on the Blocks shows. Toni Cato-Matthews is the voice of Temi. She is a qualified early years practitioner, with a Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education awarded with Distinction and experience working in a UK nursery. "Temi's World was built to reflect the children I've seen and worked with," says Toni.
Temi was first brought to life with Adobe Character Animator. Nathan performed her movements and Toni her voice, and the software mapped both onto Temi in real time. Where has Temi's World been featured? Skwigly Animation Magazine announced the launch on 3 May 2025, and C21Media and Licensing.biz covered it the same month. On 9 May 2025, World Screen's TV Kids published a video interview with Nathan and Toni. In July 2025, The Voice ran a feature on Nathan and Temi's World. The paper had first written about him around 15 years earlier, when he was a boy who dreamed of becoming an animator.
Where can I watch Temi's World, and is it free? Every episode is free on YouTube at youtube.com/@Temis_World and in the YouTube Kids app, on a TV, phone, tablet or computer. "Education shouldn't be locked behind paywalls or pricey platforms," says Nathan.
